电路结构及主要元器件选择：
由图可知，该自控延时照明控制器由电源电路、单稳态触发器、控制电路和控制执行电路组成。其中，电源电路由降压元件R5、C5、稳压二极管VD7、整流二极管VD5、VD6、滤波电容C4组成。实际应用时，VD7常选用1W、12V稳压二极管，如IN4742型等。220V交流电通过降压、整流、滤波和稳压后形成稳定的＋12V左右直流电压给单稳态触发器等电路提供工作电压。
单稳态触发器由时基集成电路NE555及定时元件R3、C1等外围元件组成。
控制电路由整流二极管VD1～VD4、光耦合器VLC、晶体管VT、光敏电阻RG、光控灵敏度电位器RP和按钮开关S组成。实际应用时，VLC常选用4N25型光耦合器；VT选用S9014或S8050硅NPN型晶体管；RG选用MG45系列光敏电阻器；RP选用小型有机实心电位器或可变电阻器；S选用普通照明灯具开关。
控制执行电路由晶闸管VS和照明灯具HL组成。实际应用时，VS常选用1W、400V以上的晶闸管，如MCR100-6型等。
工作原理:
电路通电后，当控制器工作于白天时，光敏电阻RG受室内自然光线照射呈低阻状态，晶体管VT因基极为低电平而截止。NE555第2脚为高电平，NE555内部的单稳态触发器处于稳态，其第3脚输出低电平，晶闸管VT截止。此时，即使有打入或摘机拨号，照明灯具HL也不会点亮。只有在夜晚或环境光线较暗后有铃响或摘机拨号时，阜稳态触发器才被触发工作。
当无铃响或摘机拨号时，由于线路中无电流通过，光耦合器VLC内部的发光二极管不发光，光敏晶体管处于截止状态，使晶体管VT基极保持低电平，单稳态触发器始终处于稳定状态，照明灯具HL不亮。
当控制器工作于夜晚或环境光线较暗且有铃响或摘机拨号时，光敏电阻RG呈高阻状态。同时，由于线路中有电流通过，使光耦合器VLC内部的发光二极管发光，光敏晶体管导通，晶体管VT因基极转变为高电平而导通，使NE555第2脚产生低电平脉冲信号，NE555内部的单稳态触发器翻转为暂稳态，NE555第3脚输出高电平，使晶闸管VT导通，照明灯具HL点亮。
挂机后，光耦合器VLC内部的发光二极管和光敏晶体管均截止，晶体管VT也因基极转变为低电平而截止，NE555第2脚恢复为高电平，但由于NE555第6脚电压不能突变，单稳态触发器仍维持暂态，12V电压经电阻R3对电容C1充电，当C1充电结束、第6脚电压上升至2VDD／3时，NE555内部的单稳态触发器翻转，由暂稳态转变为稳定状态，其第3脚输出低电平，使VS截止，照明灯具HL自动熄灭。
